Return to Your First Love
Share
In Revelation 2:4, Jesus tells the church in Ephesus:
“Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.”
How easy it is in this world to get busy with life, even with ministry, and lose sight of the One who is our first love — Jesus Christ. He is not after empty works or religious routine. He is after our hearts.
The Lord is calling His people back to intimacy, back to His presence, back to the place where our hearts burn for Him alone. When we drift, we often feel dry, weary, or distant. But His grace is calling us home.
✝️ 3 Reminders for Today
-
Jesus desires your heart more than your service. Your identity is not in what you do, but in who you belong to.
-
Repentance restores closeness. If you feel far away, confess it to Him. He is faithful and will draw near.
-
Love fuels obedience. True obedience flows out of love, not duty.
💡 Encouragement
If you’ve been distracted, weighed down, or just going through the motions, Jesus is whispering: “Come back. Sit at My feet. I am your first love.”
Make space today to worship, pray, and open His Word. Let His presence refresh you.
🙏 Prayer
“Lord Jesus, forgive me for every time I’ve put other things before You. Rekindle my love for You. Draw me close and restore the fire of my first love. I choose You over everything else. Amen.”
