Unlocking Revelation, Part 1: Why You Can’t Read It Alone
Share
The book of Revelation is one of the most talked-about — and least understood — books in the entire Bible. Many avoid it because it feels confusing, filled with symbols, beasts, judgments, and visions that don’t make sense on their own.
But here’s the truth: Revelation was never meant to be read in isolation. It is the final chapter of a story that began in Genesis and wove through the Law, the Prophets, the Gospels, and the letters of the apostles. If you try to read Revelation without that foundation, it’s like trying to finish a puzzle without the corner pieces.
✨ Revelation Is a Puzzle with Pieces in Other Books
The plagues echo Exodus.
The beasts resemble Daniel.
The throne visions remind us of Ezekiel.
The “Day of the Lord” connects back to Joel and Isaiah.
The lampstands take us into Zechariah.
Even Jesus Himself already taught on these signs in Matthew 24.
God wove the message of Revelation throughout the Bible long before John ever wrote it down on Patmos.
🙏 A Call to Open Your Bible
If you’ve struggled with Revelation before, you’re not alone. But here’s your first step: go back to the beginning. Before diving straight into Revelation, spend some time in:
-
Exodus 7–12 (the plagues of Egypt)
-
Exodus 25 (the tabernacle)
-
Leviticus 23 (the feasts of the Lord)
This will help you see why Revelation talks about plagues, lampstands, incense, and worship before God’s throne.
📜 Why This Matters
Revelation 1:3 says:
“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”
That blessing is for you. But to truly understand it, you need the full story.
🚀 Next Step
This week, start with Exodus and Leviticus. Next time, we’ll step into the prophets — Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Joel, and Zechariah — to see how their visions connect directly to Revelation.
Stay tuned for Part 2: The Prophets of the End Times.
